Canto 27. Deceit (December 2016)
(fourth incarnation)

Dante places perversions of the mind deep in his Inferno.
A character in the poem's 27th canto is a famous contemporary
known as "the Fox" because of his cleverness, until he
ultimately became complicit in a murderous plot by the pope.
I now use this canto to focus on assorted falsehoods
that have been perpetrated by many other trusted figures.
